The C8.7 propulsion engine features an advanced fuel system which, in addition to the traditional turbocharger, allows the use of a radial belt supercharger. Thanks to this, the formation of smoke is eliminated, as is the stress on the engine, while offering exceptional torque at low speeds and good fuel economy.

The C8.7 engine is the result of Caterpillar's advances in second-generation common rail fuel injection systems. In fact, these, also thanks to the innovative air management system, allow the C8.7 engine to develop a power of 650 mph at 2,300 rpm while respecting the emission standards EPA Tier 3 for commercial uses, EPA Tier 3 for recreational, IMO II and EU Stage IIIA (EU IW).
